The Penacook Historical Society - Snowroller quilt square

27. Snowroller – Marjorie Wiggin

In the winters before 1920, it was a common sight to see a snowroller drawn by four and sometimes six horses going down the street. Gradually the mechanized snowplows took over and terminated the sleigh rides and coasting.

28. Penacook Youth Center – Bernice Cummings

The need for a meeting place for Boy and Girl Scouts resulted in a group of dedicated citizens planning and volunteering their time to construct the Penacook Youth Center, which was completed in 1955. At first volunteers directed all the activities. Today there is a paid staff who provide programs for children and adults, and the facility is known as the Penacook Community Center.
