11. Sap collection - Winifred Dearborn

Many areas in Merrimack County were settled because of the abundance of sugar maples. Families made annual sojourns from the seacoast settlements of Portsmouth and Dover to this area to tap the native maples for production of syrup and sugar. Later, many returned to settle here.

12. Exchange Block – Waunetta Cutting

The Exchange Block was built in 1870. Various stores have occupied the first floor. The second floor was used by the telephone company, a barber shop, and a moving picture hall. The third floor was used by the Rebekahs, Odd Fellows, Eastern Star and Masons.
